Well,oneparticularlyunpleasantexperiencethatsticksinmymemorywasthetimeIwenttoHuangshanwithmymumandbrother,whichmusthavebeenabout2or3yearsago,whenmymumcameovertovisitmeinHangzhou.WehaddecidedtogotravellingtoHuangshanasnoneofushadbeentherebefore,andwe’dheardalotofgreatthingsaboutit.

Whatdidn’thelpuswasthefactthat,atthetimethestormhit,wewererightontopofamountain,andbecausewehadn’tcheckedtheweatherforecast,wedidn’thaveanyumbrellaswithus,sowegotabsolutelysoaked!

Andtheworstthingwas,whenwereachedthecablecartogetdownthemountain,weweretoldthatithadclosedearlyforsafetyreasons,cozthereweresomeflashesoflightening,andthisapparentlymadethecablecarunsafetogoin.

Soweendeduphavingnochoicebuttowalkdownthemountaininstead,andbecauseitwasstillrainingwhenwegottothebottom,wecouldn’tfindasinglefreetaxi.Sotherewewere,completelydrenchedandutterlyexhausted,stuckinthemiddleofnowhere.

Thankfully,though,afterwhatseemedlikeaneternity,aminivanfinallypulledupandgaveusaliftbacktowherewewerestaying,whichwasahugerelief.Ihonestlydon’tknowwhatwewouldhavedoneifithadn’tcome,becauseitwasgettingprettydarkandmostpeoplehadalreadyleftthemountains,sothankgoodnessitcame!

Andlookingbackonitnow,IwouldsayIactuallygainedquitealotfromthisexperience,asit’sreallykindoftaughtmetoappreciatethetimeswhenIdohaveeasyaccesstotransportation,whichismostofthetime.
